"My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease four years ago. Recently he broke his hip and came to Kettle Brook Care Center for short term rehabilitation.
I felt a sense of confidence placing my father on our specialized Alzheimer's unit. At home my father goes to an adult care center and enjoys the activities
very much. It was good to see him enjoying activities designed for individuals with Alzheimer's disease here as well. As a Kettle Brook Care Center nurse
it was sometimes hard to wear two hats - one as a nurse and one as a daughter. I received a lot of support from my co-workers. The rehabilitation staff
are wonderful not just because they are my friends but they did a great job with my dad. It was also nice for me to be able to monitor his progress. He
did beautifully - got back on his feet and returned home."
~ Laura Choinski Alzheimer's Unit nurse
"I started here at Kettle Brook Care Center in 2006 as a part-time C.N.A. During my first year, I picked up some per diem work in the recreation department.
I enjoyed it so much that I decided to pursue therapeutic recreation as a profession . I'm now working full-time in the therapeutic recreation department.
I love the other recreational therapists. We really work well together as a team. I can say that during my time here at Kettle Brook Care Center, I enjoy
the residents that I have the honor of serving. I love my job."
